In regards to my last blog

I wasnt saying that only blacks were going thru bullshit! Everyone is going thru bullshit its a way of life. Life is not fair.

Walllpaper

It doesn't matter if you are white or black to get attention. ANYONE CAN DRAW ATTENTION to themselves. It's just you may hear about black people doing it instead of white people a little bit more.

As black people, we have our own stereotypes as being loud and accentric and things like that. So I can see how someone fo the opposite race may form an opinion that black people may draw more attention to themselves, but it doesn't make it right though.

As far as I am concerned, anybody can bring attention on themselves and I think it's wrong for a white man to kind of say that everyones like wallpaper.

don't assume you know someone to well.. people do lie!

sooo. yesterday was like the worst day of my life; I think? for some odd reason stupid shit happens to me.

So my friend Jaron calls me and is pretty sad, sad to the point when he called i thought someone died. I asked what was wrong and he basically told me a dective and his lawyer would be calling me to get a statement from me about a motorcycle we bought together. I asked what the problem was about the bike and he basically told me that the bike we bought was stolen. A SUPPOSE TO BE GOOD FRIEND OF OURS!! sold us a bike, for 900 dollars in May claiming that the bike was a friend of his who died, and his mother gave him the bike but he felt so attached that he didn't want to keep the bike anymore. At this time Jaron was looking for a motorcycle so we spilt the cost of the bike and paid for it. [MIND YOU... WE HAVE KNOWN THE DUDE THAT SOLD US THE BIKE FOR HELLLLLLAAASSSS!!! LIKE 2 YEARS. dude plays basketball with jaron, we went to college with him in stl, and the sad part dude even helped us move the bike to a bikeshop to get it fixed!]

when im on the phone with Jaron my yeyo ( mother) calls me crying saying that the police are at her door looking for me because they think we stole the bike. and are looking for me because there going to arrest me and jaron for stealing!.... the way this all came to conclusion! when we [ me , jaron and the dude that sold us the bike] took the bike to the bike shop to get fixed! they ran the cereal number and found out it was stolen.. i kept asking jaron what was taking the bike so long to get fixed but he never said anything trying to keep me out of the situation and wanted to take full responsiblity! soooo now we are both like WHAT THE FUCK!!

GOOD THING we had the dude who sold us the bike write a contract out stating he sold us the bike, but sad thing is he was a friend who lied for 900 dollars! told us he couldn't find the title when he knew all along the bike was stolen!! when we kept asking where the info on the bike was.

don't trust anyone!!

p.s if i was acting like a total bitch yesterday myyyy baddd u see why i had an attitude

breaking the curb

I was walking up Mich Ave and I just happened to look down and I see this. What do you guys think about this stencil painting in the sidewalk? Is it art or just a statement stenciled into the sidewalk?

Wite Out: Make No Mistakes

I believe that being white does not mean being "wallpaper". All that matters in being noticed is the aura of engery that you cast around yourself. It is the personal sense of style that seperates us. However, to usually get noticed you have to look eliquent. You have to fight to be noticed. Personally, I don't care whether I'm noticed. I would rather be a fly on the wall watching the moves and habits of others. I do this so that I might get a better understanding of society. You have to keep a mysterious shadow over yourself. It keeps people geussing, it makes people geuss, and thats how you stay a step ahead of the rest

about my post earlier

That is not my own quote!

I got that straight out of the book Stranger then Fiction

Wall paper

Wall paper is real plane.

Wall paper stands out.

Wall paper gets respect

Wall paper cuts the checks

Wall paper will lock you up

Wall paper will sell u dreams

Wall paper built what we call the American Dream

You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover

I don't really agree with what Rob's post. There are alot of different European Americas out there. I mean if you were white and you were walking down the street with 2 feet of spiked hair and a bunch of piercings people might think you do all kinds of drugs. What if you were rocking the goth look, would people assume you were worshiping the devil. Even if you were dressed in a suit and tie, would people think you were an accountant or something. Everyone assumes something about someone. It's all about what you are used to.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!

I can't believe that a white man is complaining that he is white. Black people go thru so much shit in their lives. Not only black people draw attention to themselves but also: whites, hispanics, mexicans, latinos, asians etc. Everyone is different and special in their own special way so you can stand out and be or look different and you don't have to be black to do so. Not to be raciest but some white people do the dumbest shit ever. You dont see black people climbing up buildings, jumping off buildings or any other stupid shit. So depending on what you do and how you do it you will get looked at. So you don't have to look black to stand out.
i thought that was really ashame how that person thought like that. i think everybody should be happy about who they are. everybody can be notice in there own different ways. i think this perosn has really low self esteem about his self.

Ha

I think that this statement
to be white is to be wallpaper
is dumb.
anyone can be ther own idividual person and stick out

White is Wallpaper? Are You Serious?

I feel that everyone draws attention to themselves no matter what. Everyone have something signigicant about themselves that stand out. Whether you are fat, tall, skinny, white, or black. Its kind of bogus that he can single people out and say that those are the people that dont draw attention to themselves. White people im not trying to single white people out or anything but everyone is and attention grabber and wants attention some how some way so they will do things to try to get attention. Its human nature dammit!!!

Kill Whitey.

Being white I think I can agree with Rob's post, being a white male gives you the benefit of blending into a society that caters primarily to white males, but the culture I identify with draws negative attention to me. It often makes me stand out not only to whites but to some blacks as well. "Wigger", "Act your race!", "dude you're white!" etc. i hear these comments a lot. I am persecuted because I choose to identify with a culture that many Caucasians ignorantly think is for African-Americans only. As I said in the lecture yesterday, issues of race seem to be slowly fading away, and how people judge you is becoming more based on your economic class. That's not to say racism doesnt still exist. An ex-girlfriend of mine would often go out of her way to avoid crossing path's with a large group of black males(we didn't date long because she would do this). She wasn't out and out racist but subconciously there was a paranoia, a fear based on stereotypes and assumptions.
Being white in this country is hard for me. Maybe it's a sense of guilt, a sense of feeling responsible for the struggle blacks still have to endure. Many caucasians are often pompous, arrogant, ignorant and indifferent towards other ethnic groups in this country, and thats not to say there arent exceptions to this. being a humanist I dont judge people by the color of their skin I judge them on who they are as a person.

"the white man is the fucking devil, i wanted to be black at age 14." - Sole

P.S. that quote is from a sattirical song by one of my favorite hiphop artists, don't take it literally.

whitie is wall paper

i think to be wall paper is to be boring unless that wall paper has some cool pineapples and flowers on it like a hawwiian shirt so basically i am saying that i may be white but i stick out like a sore thumb in a crowd because im crazy like when i was on the blue line train with wade and i was yelling "man this train is cookin!" all eyes where on me the people on the train where like "hey look at that guy hes crazy"
so i dissagree

White?

So I will start by naming my high school. It was westover high school. The population was 47% African American, 21% Hispanic, and 6% Asian. It had about 1% other. So what does that leave for us whities. The non-minorities. It seems to be about 12%.
I'm not saying I know how it feels to walk in a jewry store and look like robber or to walk into a bar and look like I'm easy. But I stood out no less than anyone else in high school. I personally don't care about this issue. It's not my problem. I never did care what people think.
I didn't care when my 9th grade teacher was talking about the n-word then walks up to me and says "do you care when people call you cracker or honky?" I just simply asked her if she was calling me cracker or honky. She was indeed.

How do you pay for college 2

So a guy named Vishal Garg had trouble coming up with money to pay for college. So in his dorm he decided to go outside his 20 year old box and trade hedge funds. In that white painted carpetless dorm he traded upwards of $200 Million.
I don't know about you but I think that is more than enough to pay for college. With that, he founded a company named "my ritch uncle" which is a company that helps people like myself who does not have parents to help him pay for school and has no credit.
Not only does this company do school loans but it also does internship and study abroad loans.

There's a catch though... they don't lend to Columbia College.

7/30/08

um im confused.

in assignment 7. Are we suppose to tell how we felt about the chapter were reading in class? or just start the paper off on how our reading and writing is different?

Where does your money come from

When coming to Columbia, I was faced with a dilemma. I had to find a way to pay for school. So I applied for the FAFSA and a few grants to get the ball rolling. I knew that my education history was in no kind of shape to go asking for scholarships. I was going to save that for the following year when I have proven myself.
I received a award letter detailing loans and grants. I completed the FAFSA months ago however, I did not receive the letter until it was too late to apply for the grants listed in it so most of the years money will be paid in loans rather than grants.
I had a meeting scheduled with the Student Financial aid Services office. They asked me a few questions and asked if my parents were taking out a loan. I told them no, then they asked if I was getting one of them to cosign. Again, I told them no. They looked at me like I was on crystal meth. I even asked why they were looking at me so crazy. They they told me that almost no one comes in there without a parent taking up a Stafford loan or a cosigner for the plus loan.
I told them that it is because my dad chose the army and my mom got through school on her own. Without the help of anyone so my parents believe that if I really wanted to go to college then I will have to find a way myself.
Truth be told, I wouldn't be here unless I want to be a journalist with all my heart and soul. This isn't a way out of town for me. This is my future. So I'm faced with a much greater dilemma, I have no credit and how am I suppose to come up with the money to pay for school. What high school grad has the money to pay for college?
I think I'm a talented writer that will only get better with every piece of writing and coarse I take. But without college this world will never see what I write. Yes I know that so many people in this world got big and produced their work without the help of college but that was not today.
In this day and age you absolutely MUST have a college degree to be taken seriously. Peter Jennings would never make it to TV without a degree. It's this fact that kills me.
Even though the statistics prove that Harvard drop outs make more money on average than Harvard graduate doesn't mean going to bridge then going home will make my goals a reality.

So my question is: what are you guys doing about financial aid? Does anyone know how I can get around this wall? If not then I honestly don't see why I should finish bridge if this bridge will only lead me back to where I came from.
Back to before that first paper I typed ever meant anything to me. Back when it was just paper. Back to bussing 6.15 an hour, and no way out. To end this, I will use a graduation cliche I listed earlier, "Give them hell!" If you have everything all cool and snazzy for Columbia, give this city hell. Don't go back to your high school ways and slack off. It won't be worth it in the end.

the picture is in portugese but it translates: "The dog died the next day. On the wall, phrases written with DOG FOOD!"

Would you call this Art?

"As a white man, you can live your whole life never not fitting in. You never walk into a jewelry store that sees only your black skin. You never walk into a bar that only sees your boobs. To be whitie is to be wallpaper. You dont draw attention, good or bad. Still, what would it be like, to live with attention? To just let people stare. To let them fill in the blank, and asume what they will. To let people project some aspects of themselves on you for a whole day."

Do you really think to be whitie is to be wallpaper?
what do you think?
Here is a part of his original [most recent] statement:"Hello everyone. My name is Guillermo Habacuc Vargas. I am 50 years old and an artist. Recently, I have been critisized for my work titled "Eres lo que lees", which features a dog named Nativity. The purpose of the work was not to cause any type of infliction on the poor, innocent creature, but rather to illustrate a point. In my home city of San Jose, Costa Rica, tens of thousands of stray dogs starve and die of illness each year in the streets and no one pays them a second thought.
Now, if you publicly display one of these starving creatures, such as the case with Nativity, it creates a backlash that brings out a big of hypocrisy in all of us. Nativity was a very sick creature and would have died in the streets anyway." - Vargas

BULLSHIT SIGN THE PETITION!!!!

"Verbs and Art"

Joe just brought something that was very interesting to me about verbs and art. If you read my blog about art and noticed that every form of art that I listed ended in; ing. So when you think about it do you feel art is action!! Art just may be action!! I thought that was very interesting to think about!
once again in rememberance of my family....its so hard to say goodbye

What the hell is art?!?

While i do agree that art can be almost anything you want it to be. so long as it expresses an emotion or an idea. it has to take some form of effort on the part of the artist. when Dan flipped that chord cover in class where was the real effort he took and what idea or emotion was he expressing? you cant just splatter paint and say ART! you have to have something behind it. an idea or an emotion has to be present and has to be expressed either through the art itself or through your explanation of said art.

Here are some photos of the "art" i was talking about in Costa Rica (not Honduras i was mistaken) The artist has said in defense of this exhibit that these street dogs are often very sick and would soon die on the street from malnutrition. i would say to them how can you know that if you tie them to a post. the most disturbing thing is some of the pictures show people looking on sipping wine and watching as if they were looking at a wonderful masterpiece. it makes me sick there is no creativity behind this and takes no effort on the part of the artist. tying a knot is no art or expression

below is the link the to the petition. it as an online petition that you can sign in an effort to get the Costa Rican government to order this artist to cease and desist from doing this anymore.

this is truely the future.

this is my family and pretty soon i will be all alone cause they all are leaving to go to collage.

Artsy Fartsy

I think that art is a way to get a point across to society. Be it a simple or complex expression of how you feel inside.

Art

To Me Art is what you make it

Check out my art have a nice day

this is art

i am calling this blog post art because i want it to be considered as art and if you are sceptical of it being art it easily falls under the category of liturature i dont think it needs a category to be art but if that helps you beleive it is art then it is liturature if you havent noticed im not using any punctuation or capitilization as an art statement this is the greatest peice of art on the planet
if there was a picture of art next to its definition in the dictionary this statement would be
the picture and the new definition at the same time the form of this post is begining to
go in a diagnal dereasing more in words each line i think its pretty cool but as another artistic statement i broke it up but you arent going to even see the diagnal motion of this post anyways because the box i am typing in and the box you will veiw it in are different boxes

"Art, Art, Art"

Art to me is a form of life. I'ts how people express their emotions and feelings. Art can be expressed in singing, dancing, talking, writing, acting etc. They all can tell a story in a different way. Art also has others looking or listening to the art wonder what the artist was thinking about or what were they going through when making or telling the art. That is what I think art is.

ART TO ME

i thnk art is an imagination of what u make up doing anything you like

1 There is art in that grilled cheese

What makes art, well... art? What makes someone an artist? Is it expressing themself or is it to be talented in the area?

Well this is my sister, she lives in NJ. She's actually a bank teller and goes to an art school. This is a painting she did for a banquet to look like a city layout for a talk show. It's on 4 very large pieces of canvas.
Wordless Gospel: So this is a picture that she did in just ink dots. Pen and paper, ink just dotting the paper to come up with this.

Hondoran Inspiratation: Another picture of the exact same thing.
Korean Celebrity-linolium and acrylic on CONSTRUCTION PAPER is what it is.
Life: acrylic
Now to the food, she's alway a culinary artist
This is a subzero souffle
Mmm, some pumpkin pancakes... don't knock it till you try it

So this is a new invention. How many do you see put nuts in that chocolate. There's others but eh, I'm too lazy to post everything

what is art?

art is simply an expression.

WHAT IS ART??

ART TO ME IS...

EXPRESSING YOURSELF

IN A CREATIVE AND ECCLECTIC WAY

editing books
interior design
singing

What is ART?

To me art is an creative expression that one person or thing displays a part of his passion and emotion whether it is public or private.

Forms of Art

Well art is everything, so forms of art would be abstract, ancient classical, modern, and natural art, my favorite is ancient art, becuase it shows what people where thinking or feeling, or what there plans were, and even they looked like thousands of years before i was born

cliches

i think cliches are one of the biggest problems with american pop culture today. the same ole TV shows, The same ole pop singers, the same ole literature etc etc. whats lacking most is originiality. how many different crime shows are there on TV, how many different reality shows? this lack of creativity and originality is brought on by the ignorance and lack of education of most people in this country. perhaps if we were to broaden people's horizons at an earlier age we wouldnt see the level of tripe that you see in todays popular culture.

graduation cliches...

So at my best friend's graduation, me and my friends made a tally of how many cliches were used. I stopped at 93 and that's with my bad hearing.
Here's a few I found.
"Give them Hell"
"Do Good" (not do well)
"Seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing."
"Teamwork makes a dream work"
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"
"This isn't the end, it's only the beginning"
"Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life"

So I think those were enough for now.

Wrestling?

Before anyone decides that my statements are due to my ignorance, I just want you all to know that my dad was a wrestler and always pushed me to do the same. All three of his brothers were and my best friend wrestles in college. It isn't life experience but I am linked close enough to the sport to actually not be full of it when I talk.
I personally think that if you don't personally push yourself to the absolute limit then it isn't a true sport. Oh yes, wrestlers run the bleachers everyday at practice. And? So does the football, basketball, soccer, and even the drill team. Not to mention the track and cross country teams.
In wrestling, you will never face a guy twice your size because it's a for sure lose. But in every other sport, you will face a guy twice your size and if you're as small as me then you will face many three times your size.
You still go up against these guys because that's sports. But not in wrestling. You either win or lose and you find out within a few short matches and then it's over until the next match. You aren't running miles as fast as you possibly can or diving to catch a ball right before a guyy 200 pounds heavier than you smashes you into the ground.
Injuries are common in every sport. I'm living proof of that. But if you are going to claim that wrestling is harder because there's more injuries then ballet is more dangerous than paintball. It's a fact that ballet claims more injuries than paintball.
I broke my leg in cross country.

Politics in class

Today's discussion about polotics were really good. i never had a chance to talk about politics before so this was something new to me. what did everyone else think about it?

I was pretty pissed that i had to do this program at first. I thought it would be like the same old summer school thing. I actually like it. Its totally different from the typical summer school. After getting through the first week, im really glad im here. This is definetly a good way to start off college.

... i've been cutting a lot of people out my life and im honestly not worried about anyone right now. sounds pretty harsh! but it the truth. over these last 6 months a lot of people have been trippin. So now that i'm in Chicago i decided .... HEY! why not cut these dumb fucks out my life.. so thats what i've been doin.. yeah some arguments and yeah some tears.. but in the long run im not dead.. so thats what counts. lol People tell me i have a nonchalant attitude its not nonchalant.. its just i know bullshit when i see it and hear it no i don't bother being around it or giving it my 100% attention.

Illinois Jones Weekly Blog

Well, over the weekend I was suppose to go to great america with my boyfriend but my father was being a real McAsshole. So, Sunday I started my new and first job at white castle. So here are some pics to show you how I looked!!!!!!!

Dadaism??

This painting is known as a Dada style painting.
Dadaism was popular in through 1916-1920.
Dadaism was about anti art, rebelling against
the traditional style paintings. Dada is french for
hobby horse. It is also still prominent in today's
culture. One of the most popular Dada paintings
is the one done by Marcel DeChamps 'L.H.O.O.Q',
he mocks the Monal Lisa by putting a mustache on
her. (Seen Above)

this weekend.

this weekend was a lot of fun. it felt good to reward myself after a rough week of working hard and getting to class on time. on friday night me and a bunch of the kids on my floor took the howard up to clark to try and check out a hookah bar only to get there and find out it was closed while waitying for the cab i ditched everyone for 10 minutes and slammed a beer in a place called the Bong cafe which made me laugh. on saturday wade jeff and i took the redline howard to wilson to check out a skateboarding demo that was put on by Baker skateboards. it was really cool and we got to see professional skateboarders doing some amazing tricks. that night wade and i were "exploring" the backways of the south loop when we ran into some kids from our floor. while i was talking to them wade came up out of my field of vision and said "hey kyle check this out." when i turned to look at him he was holding in his hand a DEAD RAT by the tail. way to break those hillbilly stereotypes wade. sunday i spent a lot of the day sleeping and doing homework. oh and Harold's chicken kills hangovers with a vengance. and i recommend getting the ranch sauce and dumping a little of the hotsauce in and stirring it up its amazing.

MY WEEKEND

my weekend was very relaxing, i did my homework on thursday so that i wouldn't have to do it during the weekend. am spending a lot of time with my boyfriend before he leaves to go to collage. im really nurves about that even though he's only an 1 hour and 15 minutes away from me. but any way we went to one of our friends trunk party and are going min golfing this weekend. wat should i do about me being nurvous?

skaters way

Last Saturday Dan aka "Kick Push" and my self traveled to the illusive Uprise skateshop off Milwaukee Ave. Unfortunatly, we decided to take the blue line train, which if you haven't already found out is a crazy train sent from hell to give you a roller coaster ride through the city. "THIS TRAIN IS COOKIN!!!" Dan yelled at me over the roar of track and wheel. All i could do was laugh and think of how the ride reminded me of the Twister ride at Universal Studios. The train came to a screeching halt at Western and wwe hopped off. Still discruntled from the ride Dan and I made our way to Milwaukee Ave. Not a stones throw away we found the Uprise skateshop. I felt so at home there. The people were nice, the boards were nice, and the people were genuine. A new deck and pair of trucks later we headed out back towards the Train of Nightmares. I was a serious trip.

Weekend

It was a really good weekend. Being home felt so good. I was real homesick. I wish it could have been longer, but i think that this program is really making me appreciate homelife and the people back home.

Rock Creek Lodge, etc.

Since it's Saturday, I finally had time to read all of your great posts. Keep it up, and if you haven't posted in a while, we want to hear from you again (and again).
It's been fun for me to see if I recognize some of you in all the recently posted photos (nice photos, Michelle, Tierra, and Tiara, but was that you, Jeff?!), and I enjoyed "going along with you" on some of your road trip adventures. Fascinating stories. . . While reading Kyle's detailed post about his southwestern trip, I was also struck by the challenge of describing in words rather than relying on photos. Both are good, but sometimes one doesn't have the photos!
OK, what I started to post here is that I did online research into Rock Creek Lodge and the Testy Fest. It's easy to find; apparently this lodge is known far and wide for that event! Besides the lodge's own website, it is listed on one called Legends of America: A Travel Site for the Nostalgic and Historic Minded, which strikes me as hilarious. However, I also found information on the lodge itself on a Montana state site: halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, it's used the rest of the year by people who go there to hunt, fish, etc.
Now, going way back with your posts, I wanted to respond to a few:
Dan, I also like Eustace's speech about us living our lives in boxes. It reminds me of the folk song from the 1950s or 1960s, "Little Boxes."
Rob and Jeff, I also especially like Chuck Palahniuk's essays -- including the introduction -- about writing and writers. It strikes a chord for me as a writer and serves a good introduction for non-writers, I think.
Jeff, I like the way you combined Roosevelt's and Columbia's slogans into "Just watch me. . . create change." It works.
Finally, in responding to Jeff's question about why so many Asians and so few Hispanics in downtown Chicago, I want to remind you to look for questions at the end of your classmates' posts and to respond to as many of these topics as we can (although I know that Joe has discussed some of them with you during your afternoon sessions). So anyway, Jeff, this is my theory about so many Asians: I wonder if you notice them more around the South Loop, where we have so many colleges. For example, Columbia has specific summer courses for ESL (English as a Second Language) students, so I've noticed quite a few Asians, too. As far as Hispanics, I've heard Hispanic students lament the fact that they sometimes feel isolated, at least here at Columbia. What do the rest of you think?

what happened to tyrone after he killed eric?

Jesse Rankins aka tyrone one of the killers [ he is 18 in this picture]
he committed a sexual assault three years after killing Eric Morse
but in 2001 when he was 18 yrs old he was set free

this is Eric the 5 year old killed

So I was reading chapter 10 in Our America and i actually got a little mad. Thinking about how two boys set up a 5 year old who was doing the right thing telling his mother that people were pressuring him to steal. Its a shame that a 5 year old knew right from wrong but two older boys didn't. The sad part is this was no freak accident this was set up and done on purpose. I started looking at the pictures and the one that stood out the most was the picture of the apartment. I sat there looking at the picture of 10 minutes visualizing how Tyrone and Johnny basically dangled eric him out the window. I know for a fact that no one would sit and let some people dangle there brother out of a window without screaming and crying and trying to help him back up and know if you were being hung out of a window you would be crying, I just got a deep dark feeling from the picture, sadness and regret. and i wondered what went through Erics and his brothers head, the messed up part about this whole situation. Derrick ( Eric's bro) ran Fourteen flights to catch his brother before he hit the ground; i wondered what he thought when he got down to the bottom and realized he missed him.
i also wondered when derrick realized the first time they weren't playing and dangled his brother out the window why didn't he leave after he saved him the first time. was it because they were scared or was it because they were forced to stay in there? i know its probably more to the story that derrick probably hates to deal with everyday of his life. but i just wondered.
anyway.. i couldn't find Johnny the other dude who was involved or a picture of Derrick

Photobucket

So I went to the post office and decided to take picture with my cell phone. I think this picture is way better than anything Kyles stupid iphone could do. haha

But then I decided to look at my old photobucket from when I did graphic designs in high school to pass time while listening to some lame lecture. Tell me what you guys think.

So I layered two pictures and cut out the can on the top layer and colored the picture black and white. You can see the lighting of the room all tan by looking at the can.
This one, I think I layered it and cut out the bottle then took a picture of an Iron Giant happy meal toy and cut that out and placed it in this picture. Also done on a simply "paint" program that comes with the computer.
This picture I was really proud of until I noticed that on the left I am faded. I placed my camera on my back porch and put it on timer. I took 6 pictures and layered is 6 times. Then I cut myself out 5 times. So I really was standing and sitting in all those places. Also done in the basic paint program.

This is a picture that a friend took. I really like how the rose looked and how the camera kind of messed up and you see a sort of blotted pixelation. So naturally I cut out the rose and painted the rest black and white. But I used a more advanced program so I could increase the color in this and really bring out the yellow color.
This is a picture at my highschool where I kind of fiddled around with photoshop until I came to a sci fi look. It kind of looks like a 3D movie after you take off your glasses to me. I layered this picture about 17 times and it took 3 hours to do. But I loved it. Looks alot better in full size.
This is a picture I took of my best friend and worked with it in a photo processor. I flipped it to the side and changed the color to red and increased the contrast and added a wind effect about 80% until I came up with this. I like it because it fits one of his bands songs about the end of the world and fire comes crashing down. It sort of looks like fire crashing down.
This is the markethouse downtown in my city. I wanted it to look like someone drew it on a brown paper with pastels. I entered this into a dogwood fest we have.

This last one is just about my absolute loath with all things red robin. I've had some pretty bad jobs in my life but this was the absolute worst job ever. The only reason is because the managers are absolute garbage. So I made this into a tshirt that I will be wearing when I visit during christmas...
I kept the job for a year because where I am from, there's soooo many people my age looking for a job and you have to fight for any job you can get. Thats why I've had some pretty odd jobs... carpenter assistant, janitor, mover, bussboy, delivery driver, and cook all while still in high school.

I hope you guys liked these, I have some art work from my sister I might post tomorrow. She was a graphic design major but switched to photography in NJ.

Pittsburgh

A few months ago i got to go on a trip and be away from home for a week without my family.
Me and a buddy of mine took a road trip over to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to participate in a music video. It just so happens my friend who i took the trip with was a good friend with the director of the video. We got to drive down the cinematographer who was also from Chicago.
It was the first time i've ever been that far east of the country. Pittsburgh was soo much different then what im used to in the midwest. Everything is elevated and on hills and cliffs as opposed to what i grew up with my whole life.. Flat lands and corn fields. It was a really nice city. And working on the music video was pretty sweet to. I had the roll in the SWAT team. Although i never heard of this east coast band it was definetly an awesome experience for me, especially since im interested in film and video. If you ever get the chance to visit Pittsburgh you should definetly go. Especially if your able to go to bars.. tons of them
